PHUKET: Devotees at Chinese shrines across the island raised Go Teng lantern poles yesterday (Oct 12) for the Jade Emperor, the Nine Emperor Gods and 36,000 gods of the Chinese pantheon to descend from the heavens on, marking the beginning of the Phuket Vegetarian Festival.
